North East ISD lists bond projects

When North East Independent School District board members approved the contents of a bond package Monday night, they set before voters in the May election a list of projects totaling $399.4 million.

We’ve sorted North East’s list of projects according to which grade level would benefit from the bonds.

Districtwide projects
— $64 million: A technology package to purchase devices for staff and students, network infrastructure upgrades and other items.
— $9.2 million: Replace 100 school buses.
— $1.5 million: Replace 1,900 chalkboards with dry-erase whiteboards.
Districtwide total: $74.7 million

Elementary projects
— $15.25 million for Camelot Elementary: Replacing nine portables with an 18-classroom addition as well as a music room, library/media center and computer lab.
— $15.25 million for Coker Elementary: Replacing 10.5 portables with a 21-classroom addition, a library/media center and computer lab.
— $14.75 million for Windcrest Elementary: Replacing 10 portables with a 20-classroom addition, a library/media center and computer lab.
— $2 million: Adding sun shades to existing elementary playgrounds.
— $1.5 million: Upgrading elementary school gymnasium flooring to sports flooring
Elementary total: $48.75 million

Middle school projects
— $65 million: Construct a middle school on an 81-acre site off Bulverde Road.
— $28.5 million for Nimitz Middle: Replacing seven portables with a 14-classroom addition, an athletic facility replacement and an administration/fine arts addition.
— $25 million: Phase 1 of replacing the Garner Middle School campus.
— $18.75 for Eisenhower Middle: Replacing seven portables with a 14-classroom addition, and building a gym, athletic offices, weight room, locker rooms, laundry room, lobby and restrooms.
— $10.4 million for White Middle: Building an athletic facility addition with a gym, athletic offices, weight room, locker rooms, laundry room, lobby and restrooms.
Middle school total: $147.65 million

High school projects
— $47.985 million for Lee High, which includes:
          — $36.485 million for a science/classroom addition, athletic support facility and tennis court replacement.
          — $8.75 million for a new JROTC facility and campus courtyard/entrance.
          — $2.75 million for renovating Building 100.
— $32.25 million for Reagan High, which includes:
          — $18.75 million for a science/classroom addition.
          — $13.5 million for an athletic support facility addition and a new soccer field with parking.
— $24.625 million for MacArthur High, which includes:
          — $18.2 million for a science/classroom addition.
          — $5.175 million for a new JROTC facility.
          — $1.25 million for an athletic support facility renovation.
— $6.25 million for Churchill High: Replacing the JROTC facility and constructing two tennis courts.
— $3 million: athletic field outdoor bathrooms and concessions at Johnson, Lee, MacArthur and Reagan.
High school total: $114.11 million

The bond total also included $14.2 million for in-house construction management services and operations.
